The National Science Foundation’s (NSF) SBIR/STTR program invests over $200M in seed-stage startups that are creating innovative technologies across all areas of science and technology. A key objective of the program is to translate these promising technologies to the commercial private sector, enabling major advancements society, health, security, and environment.
PHASE I awards are up to $275,000 for six-twelve months to support the development of proof-of-concept and test feasibility of the technology.
PHASE II awards are up to $1,000,000 for two years to further develop and commercialize the technology.
Phase II awardee companies can apply to receive additional supplemental funding for over $500,000, bringing the total funding amount from the NSF to almost $2M.
